Industrial Hygiene at the Construction Site - Issues, Challenges, Best Practices

Session Id: IH09-RT213 Type: Downloadable

Description

The practice of industrial hygiene on construction sites presents many challenges that differ significantly from manufacturing both in the U.S. and other countries. It is a new frontier for many in the construction industry as they learn what industrial hygiene is, as well as for many industrial hygienists as they become involved for the first time on a major construction project. It is a border that is being opened wider each year as the industry gains a broader understanding of health-related risks and an increasing recognition of the need to control those risks. This roundtable will bring together industrial hygienists with a diverse background on this topic, both domestic and international, ranging from research to program development to hands-on field practice and includes government, labor, construction and host site representatives. While there is no one solution to eliminating health risks in construction there are many best practices in use to reduce those risks, and this roundtable will provide the
opportunity to discuss the issues and possible solutions with experts in this area.
