Targeting EGFR in Lung Cancer
Session Id: CR09-163 Type: Downloadable
Description
A majority of human epithelial cancers including treatment of non-small cell lung cancer are marked by functional activation of growth factors and receptors of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) family. After nearly two decades of drug development, multiple EGFR antagonists are available for the treatment of these cancers. This session will address the mechanisms of action of EGFR inhibitors, briefly review the clinical evidence of their anticancer activity, and considers the current and controversial issues with respect to their optimal use in the treatment of patients with newly diagnosed lung cancer and for those who developed resistance to these agents.
