Technology Transfer (TT) is the passing on of intellectual property (IP), particularly inventions, from one party to another with some restrictions by the owner of the right to use its IP. This IP may or may not be protected by patent or copyright. What do scientists need to know about IP? What potential financial opportunities and rewards can scientists receive from IP? An overview of IP, its rewards and pitfalls will be discussed. In addition, IP career opportunities for scientists will be covered. Representative(s) from AstraZeneca, IOMAI Corporation, and NIH will present their IP perspectives.
