NCI Supported Extramural Research Training and Career Development Opportunities: Which Are Best for My Career Path?
Session Id: CR09-006 Type: Downloadable
Description
The National Cancer Institute"s Cancer Training Branch (NCI/CTB) is home to various training and career development grant mechanisms supporting individuals at universities and other extramural institutions. The NCI/CTB will host a session highlighting NCI-supported mechanisms for training and career development in cancer research. By presenting "real life" examples of career pathways and pointing out relevant funding mechanisms that NCI offers at each step of the pathway, this session should guide attendees to the mechanisms that are most appropriate for their career stage. The brief presentations will also highlight the scientific goals and eligibility for the funding mechanisms. Additionally, time will be available for one-to-one interactions with NCI program staff to answer individual questions following the presentations. This session is intended for individuals in pre-doctoral programs or with biomedical or health professional doctoral degrees seeking support for training or career development in basic science, prevention, control, behavioral and population sciences; or patient-oriented research related to cancer research.
