Ethical Issues in Publications
Session Id: CR09-246 Type: Downloadable
Description
For the past several years the AACR has established a tradition of discussing contemporary ethical issues in cancer research. Continuing in this tradition we will explore at the 2009 annual meeting some of the many ethical problems that arise when studies are published - or not published. Four distinguished speakers will draw from the problems they have encountered as editors and/or as member of editorial boards, and we look forward to audience participation in reviewing their own experience and questions on the ethical dilemmas raised. What are the boundaries of ethical standards and should they be broadened? Is the information that is published correct and accurate? Should we revisit the definition of conflict of interest and its impact on both the peer-review and the industry-investigator relationship? Does the worldwide scientific community have a clear understanding of ethical standards in science and are these widely accepted?
